About Us

We are a Geelong based, locally owned and operated pool & spa barrier inspection service covering Melbourne, Geelong, Bellarine and the Surfcoast as well as areas of Rural Victoria.

iinspect was formed by three local families, united by a passion for the building and construction industry, with a vision to combine technology with personal service to the complicated area of pool safety. Our owners have a meticulous knowledge of the pool standards and a passion for ensuring safe practices to protect families from the danger a pool can present.

We aim to provide a simple, streamlined booking service for pool & spa barrier inspections to take the pressure off homeowners, who often feel overwhelmed and underprepared. Upon booking you will receive a pre check list allowing you to do some basic checks of the pool prior to the inspector attending your pool. Our inspectors have the benefit & guidance of an Unlimited inspector, Domestic and Commercial builder with over 25 years of experience in the building construction industry. They are experienced, fully insured and licensed by the Victorian Building Authority (VBA). Our knowledgeable office staff are available via phone or email to take queries and answer any questions.

How often do I need to inspect my pool or spa barrier?

Every 4 years unless alterations are made to the pool barrier. Any building work carried out on the barrier requires a building permit with the relevant building surveyor inspecting the barrier to determine if it complies with the applicable standard.

What will the pool or spa inspection include?

Your pool or spa inspection will include the services of a VBA registered inspector, who will follow the pool compliance checklist in order to provide you with an inspection outcome. Which you will receive on the same day guaranteed.

What happens if my pool or spa barrier is non-compliant?

If your pool barrier is non-compliant but doesn’t pose a significant and immediate risk to life and safety, the inspector will provide you with a barrier improvement notice, and you will have 60 days to make the barrier compliant.

What are the main reasons for failing a pool or spa barrier inspection?

The main reasons that pool barrier inspections fail to comply are: gates not self-closing from ANY given position, climbable objects too close to the barrier, vertical gaps greater than 100mm, gaps greater than 100mm between the pool barrier and ground level.

Are there any checks I can do myself prior to a pool or spa barrier inspection?

Definitely! To avoid a re-inspection, you can use the checklists provided on the VBA website which can help you assess the safety of your barrier. Different standards apply depending on the construction date of your pool barrier.

What happens after the pool/spa inspection is complete?

Once you have received your compliance certificate from iinspect you will be required to submit your compliance certificate within 30 days to your local council.
